Meet the Optometrist

Dr. Gold graduated from the California School of Optometry, Berkeley, in 1977. Soon after he graduated, he joined the practice of Dr. Irving Kass.

Dr. Gold assumed ownership of the practice in 1981 and retained the same loyal patient base, even developing it into a thriving primary eyecare office.

Dr. Ting received her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. She continued her education at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton.

Dr. Ann Kinoshita became our associate doctor in 1993. Graduated from California School of Optometry, Berkeley, in 1991, she completed a primary care residency with an emphasis on ocular disease form the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia.

Dr. Stephanie Cai earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry.

Dr. Connie Chen is a Bay Area native and attended UC Berkeley for both her undergraduate and optometric degrees. Upon graduation, she was granted an Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care by the American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF). 

Dr. Ramneek Mangat was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Spanish from DePaul University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating with clinical honors.

Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Elk Grove/Sacramento, CA. She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Biology Science degree and went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Nguyen has clinical experience at Kaiser Permanente, West Oakland Community Clinic Center, Omni New Jersey ophthalmology tertiary centers, and Veterans Affair center in Palo Alto. Dr. Nguyen is excited to provide full-scope primary eye care optometry including comprehensive eye examinations, contact lenses, evaluation for ocular diseases such as glaucoma, and macular degeneration, diabetic eye examinations, and myopia control management for her patients.

In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys cooking various cuisines, nurturing her indoor plants, and spending time with her family and dog.

Dr. Rabab Rafique earned a baccalaureate in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Waterloo in Canada and went on to study in Chicago at the Illinois College of Optometry. After graduating in 2021, she completed a residency in ocular disease at Empire Eye and Laser Center in Bakersfield, California, where her training included the treatment and management of a wide range of conditions of the eyes and visual system. Dr. Rafique is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a proponent of lifelong learning. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Rafique enjoys spending time with friends and family and exploring new places.
