Glaucoma: The Vision Thief You Can Stop

Glaucoma progresses silently, often without symptoms, until it causes irreversible vision loss. This Glaucoma Awareness Month, Dr. Gary Gold & Associates encourages you to take control of your eye health with advanced Eye Health Wellness Assessments to detect glaucoma. https://schedule.solutionreach.com/scheduling/subscriber/55319/scheduler-basic today to protect your sight.

Why Glaucoma is Called the Silent Thief

Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, which carries visual information from your eyes to your brain. This damage typically occurs due to increased pressure in the eye, but it can also happen even when eye pressure appears normal.

The scariest part? Glaucoma develops so gradually that many people don’t realize they’re losing vision until it’s too late. By the time symptoms like blurred vision or blind spots appear, the damage is often irreversible.

Who Should Be Screened for Glaucoma?

Glaucoma can affect anyone, but certain factors increase your risk:

Age: Risk rises significantly after age 40.

Family History: If relatives have glaucoma, your risk is higher.

Health Issues: Conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure elevate your risk.

Ethnicity: African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians are more likely to develop glaucoma.

If any of these apply to you, regular assessments at Dr. Gary Gold & Associates are essential to protect your vision.

Detecting Glaucoma Before It’s Too Late

At Dr. Gary Gold & Associates, we use advanced technology to detect glaucoma early. Our Eye Health Wellness Assessment provides a thorough, non-invasive evaluation of your optic nerve and other vital eye structures.

This state-of-the-art test allows us to identify glaucoma in its earliest stages, long before you experience symptoms. Early detection gives us the chance to intervene and prevent further damage.

Why Timing Matters

Glaucoma-related vision loss cannot be reversed, making early intervention critical. Treatments like medicated eye drops, laser procedures, or surgery are far more effective when the disease is caught in its early stages.

Delaying your assessment puts your vision at risk, especially if you fall into a higher-risk category. Don’t wait for symptoms—schedule your Eye Health Wellness Assessment today.

Although I know the timing is right, it is with mixed emotions that I have come to this decision. It has been my absolute privilege and joy to get to know you, my patients, and share in our lives together during my time here at this office. I will sincerely miss this the most. It has been an incredible journey and I will always be grateful for the role that you have played in my career life.
